One of HP’s seven corporate objectives, Global Citizenship, is a commitment by the company to hold itself to high standards of integrity, contribution and accountability as it balances business goals with its impact on society and the planet. Global Citizenship is HP’s term for all aspects of its corporate responsibility including areas like environment, social investment, supply chain responsibility and privacy.
HP has received awards and recognition from many different organisations, publications and even customers for its initiatives and leadership in global citizenship.
HP is committed to providing products and services that are environmentally sound throughout their life cycles. This includes activities like product recycling and designing environmentally-sound products that use less energy, less and non-hazardous materials and are easy to recycle. HP also reduces the environmental footprint of its operations, develops solutions to reduce greenhouse gas emissions throughout the global economy and works with non-governmental organisations and others to advance public policies that address climate change.
By investing in social programmes, HP wants to increase access to information technology (IT) and focuses on technology grants and IT education for communities, schools, universities and small enterprises.
HP operates the IT industry’s largest and most complex supply chain. The company pays attention to raising social and environmental standards with its suppliers around the globe and continuously monitors whether they comply with the Electronic Industry Code of Conduct (EICC).
HP respects the privacy of its customers and employees and is committed to protecting it. HP also leads the way in advancing the rights of consumers to have their personal information safeguarded. Essentially, HP secures customer information, provides customers access to their information, and does not sell, rent or lease customers’ personally identifiable information.
