The Business Ideas Contest is open to students who have participated in JA Company Program or the Hewlett Packard Global Business Challenge within the current school year.
This contest awards the best responsible business ideas from students across Latin America and the Caribbean.
What can be submitted?
You can submit an idea for a possible business (product, service or both) which meets the contest criteria.
Contest Criteria
The best ideas will be judged on the following criteria:
- Demonstrate strong market potential: showing the ability to be profitable and competitive
- Demonstrate social responsibility: meeting the wider concerns of stakeholders such as employees, suppliers, customers and local communities
- Demonstrate environmental excellence: preventing pollution, optimizing resource efficiency and developing products with minimal environmental impacts
- Be innovative: Innovative approach of business solution
Time Frame: April 6, 2008 - September 23, 2009
Participate and Win!
Minimal investment, maximum yield: Describe your idea and convince us on maximum three 8½ X 11 pages, brief and to the point, why your responsible business idea deserves to win. Please submit your idea in English.
Submission process
This competition is by submission only and can be awarded to any JA student company in Latin America and the Caribbean.
Each JA student company can submit their business ideas in the following way:
- in their own language to the national JA organization
- in English to JA Worldwide on this website by uploading the document
Submissions received after the deadline (September 23, 2009) will not be considered.
What happens next?
The organizers will review all received proposals and present them to an international jury of HP CSR practitioners and JA representatives. The jury will then produce a shortlist and select the winner. The winner will be announced on this website on October 16, 2009.
Awards
The winning team will receive an HP product for each member of the team (max. 5) and each member of the team (max. 5) will be invited to attend the Latin American JA Student Company of the Year Competition 2009 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on December 10-13, 2009.
